The sibling letters — one tree mailed a proof, the other rebuilt it from source

Most claims about a research result travel as a sentence: "we reproduced it." This is the record of a case where that sentence is actually true, and where checking it is as simple as reading the two dates.

What it was

On 10 July 2026 the metal tree — QUANTA and the gate — mailed its toy two-organ proof to its sibling tree as a letter: source, not a binary, not a results log. The point of mailing source rather than an artifact is specific — a binary can be run and trusted or not; source has to be recompiled, on a different machine, by a different team, before it produces anything at all. That is a harder bar to pass, on purpose.

What we built

The mind tree took the letter and recompiled it from source on its own machine — not the metal tree's environment, not a shared build server. The result: every table in the original proof reproduced to the decimal, in 43 ms. Not "approximately consistent." Not "directionally similar." Matching, digit for digit, from an independent build.

The letter was not a one-off. Five gifts went from the metal tree to its sibling, and five came back the other way — a real exchange, not a single demonstration staged for the record. Out of that exchange came a shared discipline: a provenance floor, now adopted across both trees, that governs what has to travel with a claim before it counts as reproduced rather than merely reported.

What we learned — including the honest negative

This is a real reproduction, and it is also a narrow one, and both things are true at once. It covers one toy proof, exchanged between two of the three trees — the metal tree and the mind tree. The third tree, novaos, has not yet run its own reproduction of either sibling's work; the ritual described here is a two-tree result, not yet a tri-tree one, and this entry does not round that up.

It is also, honestly, a single exchange rather than a standing cadence. Five gifts each way is a real count, not a token gesture, but it is not yet evidence of a fixed, repeatable rhythm running indefinitely. The provenance floor adopted from this exchange is the durable thing — a shared discipline going forward — more than the specific 43 ms figure is, which describes one proof, not a guarantee about the next one.

Where it went / status

Live, and adopted as a discipline rather than filed as a one-time story. The provenance floor from this exchange now governs both trees' future gifts. The site's own dashboard had this story flagged as genuinely untold before this entry — a cross-tree reproduction worth recording plainly, not because it is flattering, but because it is checkable.
